Bristol CERT Raises Awareness For Blood Donations

The need for blood supply is always high. It’s especially high during the colder months. With the trying times of Covid 19, donations are even more important.

With Thanksgiving approaching, the Pelkey family and the Bristol Community Emergency Response Team (Bristol CERT) is asking you to roll up your sleeve. We’d like you to “donate the gift of life”. With each donated pint of blood, you can help three people. What better way to give back and help someone in need during the holiday weekend of Thanksgiving!!!

For those of you who know Pete, and for those of you who may not, he was on a kidney transplant waitlist for years. He finally received his kidney in June and HE IS DOING GREAT!!!! Pete had a long road to get his kidney, including quadruple bypass surgery, during which time he needed emergency blood supply. It’s the kindness of others that saved Pete’s life. Pete and his wife Joan are lifelong Bristol residents.

They are kind people who often give to others in our community. I ask that on behalf of Pete, in sponsorship with Bristol CERT, that you please donate the gift of life. Please join us on Saturday, November 28th, 2020, at the Double Tree Hotel in Bristol, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Our target goal is 57 donations!!

This was the amount we collected last year. I’d like to see an even larger turn out. My guess is that more people are staying local for the holiday and maybe doing more cyber shopping, please consider adding “save a life” to your list! Signing up in advance is necessary. Walk ins are not being welcomed due to Covid 19 restrictions.

You can register at:, use sponsor code BCERT Or Call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767), reference sponsor code BCERT If you are interested in volunteering on the day of the drive or donating pre wrapped food the day of the drive, please contact me at

We look forward to making our second annual blood drive in honor of Pete a huge success. Joan and Pete are loved by many, including myself, as I’ve known them since birth!!! Thank you in advance!!!
