Connecticut Man Tells Police He Has Coronavirus — Then Spits at Them

A Milford man, Stephen McCarthy, 27, of Meadowside Road is accused of spitting on police officers and telling them he had the coronavirus, police said.

On April 30, police responded to a local home on a breach of peace incident involving roommates, police said.

“Investigation led to the arrest of McCarthy who is accused of spitting towards officers and stating he had COVID-19. McCarthy is also accused of resisting attempts to (be) placed in handcuffs and threatening officers on scene and their families,” Milford police said in a news release.

He is charged with two counts of assault on a police officer, criminal attempt at assault on a police officer, interfering with an officer, and second-degree threatening. He was released after posting a $10,000 bond.
