There are 10,538 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Connecticut and each of the state’s eight counties is affected with cases and fatalities. There are 1,562 current hospitalizations across the state for COVID-19.

The number of cases has increased 754 since yesterday.

448 residents have died, 203 of whom were in Fairfield County; 98 of the people who died were in New Haven County and 88 were in Hartford County. 17 were in Middlesex County, 16 were in Litchfield County, 14 were in Tolland County, and seven were in New London County. One of the deaths was in Windham County, and four are still pending address validation.

350 of the 448 deaths in the state have been people of age 70 or older. One resident in their 20s has died and five residents in their thirties have died. It was announced on April 1 a seven-week old newborn girl passed away from coronavirus.

Hartford County continues to grow rapidly in the number of cases.

Nursing Homes Impacted

96 of the 215 (45%) of the nursing homes in Connecticut have had at least one confirmed case of COVID-19 leading to 980 total nursing home cases and 142 deaths.
