Burlington Public Library February Programs and Events

Greetings, Readers and Happy February from the Burlington Public Library! We’re so excited to be in a Leap Year because it means we can bring you an extra day of winter programming! However, we do have spring on our minds here so be sure to stop in to grab our March-May calendar of events which will be available the week of February 3rd.

In addition to using the newsletter to share our upcoming programs, we’d like to begin highlighting some of the wonderful resources that the Burlington Public Library has to offer. Read on below to find out what else you can do with your library card.Also, for those of you who are looking for IRS and CT tax forms, you may find the booklets across from the Circulation desk.

Supplies are limited and they are available on a first come-first serve basis. If you don’t see the form that you are looking for, feel free to let a staff member know at the desk. We are usually able to find the form you  need online and print it out for you.As always, we look forward to seeing you at the Library!

Take Your Child to the Library Day
Saturday, February 1 at 11 AM
 February 1st is Take your Child to the Library Day. Come explore all of the great things that the Burlington Public Library has to offer and meet Chase from Paw Patrol from 11-11:45. The meet and greet will be followed by stories and crafts with Miss Amanda. Refreshments will be served.Registration is required. All ages are welcome.

Tween-to-Teen Game Night
Tuesday, February 4 at 6 PM
Grades 5 and up Come hang out at the library and play a variety of different group games. Candy prizes for participants and winners!Grades 5 and up. Registration requested.

Evening Book Club
Wednesday, February 5 at 6:30 PM
Join us for our monthly book discussion. This month, we will be discussing the psychological thriller, Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris. Copies of the book are available at the Circulation desk.Light refreshments and mocktails served.

Live Well at Your Library Morning Yoga Class Saturday, February 8 at 11 AM
 Register for a morning Yoga class with instructor Heather Tartarelli.Work your way through a series of movements to promote mindfulness and to get you ready to take on the weekend!Please bring a Yoga mat and wear comfortable clothes. Registration required.

Looking for something cute and easy to give to your friends on Valentine’s Day? Register for our Valentine Pop program and make a flower with a surprise candy center.Grades 5 & up.Registration required.

Wooly WednesdayWednesday, February 12 at 6:30 PM

Do you love to crochet or knit? Join us at our monthly meet-up of stitchers where you can bring your projects to work on and share! All levels are welcome – even if you don’t know how to crochet or knit. Bring some yarn and needles or a hook and we will start you off with the basics!Come for conversation, relaxation and all things wooly related!Registration requested.

Movie Matinee – Blinded by the Light
Friday, February 14 at 1 PM

Join us for an afternoon movie at the library!This month, we will be showing the feel-good movie of 2019, Blinded by the Light (Rated PG-13, 1 hour, 58 minutes)!Light refreshments served. Registration requested.

Javed is a Pakistani teenager who experiences racial and economic turmoil while living in Luton, England, in 1987. He writes poetry as a way to escape the intolerance of his hometown and the stubborn views of his traditional father. When a classmate introduces him to the music of Bruce Springsteeen, Javed sees parallels between the singer’s powerful lyrics and his own working-class environment. Springsteen’s melodies soon inspire Javed to find his own voice and follow his dreams.

Ladies’ Game Night
Wednesday, February 19 at 6:30 PM
 Attention Ladies!Enjoy a fun evening of different games on the third Wednesday of each month! Try new games or bring in a favorite from home.Light refreshments served. Registration requested.

Tween-to-Teen Candy Craft – Dragon EggsSaturday, February 22 at 12 PM
Grades 5 & Up
Khaleesi’s dragons have nothing on these DIY eggs.Register to make your own dragon egg using materials provided by the library.Grades 5 and up.Space is limited and registration is required

Children’s Leap Day CelebrationSaturday, February 29 at 1 PM February 29th only comes once every four years, so let’s celebrate! Join us on Saturday, February 29th, Leap Day, as we prepare to leap into March. We will read stories, have music and movement, play some froggy games, and make a craft to take home. Refreshments will be served! Registration required.

NewbiesBirth to 12 monthsMondays at 11 AM
Join us for a story time for babies and their caregivers. 
Each week will feature stories, songs, finger plays and rhymes. We will end with free-play with age-appropriate toys.

A great social experience for toddlers and their caregivers! 
Learn nursery rhymes and finger plays, sing songs, play instruments and listen to a story. End each session with free-play with age-appropriate toys.
