Lifelong Bristol Resident Promoted to Aquatics Coordinator

The City of Bristol Department of Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services announced the selection of Raelynne Andrews as the new Aquatics Coordinator. Raelynne graduated from Bristol Central High School in 2012, University of Saint Josephs in 2017, and she is currently pursuing a Masters of Social Work Degree from Quinnipiac University. Raelynne is a lifelong resident of the City of Bristol.

Raelynne has worked for the Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services’ Aquatics Division in a variety of part time roles since 2011. She has served as a Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard, and most recently as a Head Lifeguard supervising all 3 city pools. Raelynne is also an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor Trainer; responsible for certifying dozens of professional lifeguards and swim instructors annually.

As Aquatics Coordinator, Raelynne will be responsible for assisting the Aquatics Supervisor in the overall operations of 2 outdoor park pools and an indoor year-round aquatics facility, the Dennis Malone Aquatics Center. This includes guest services for over 25,000 patrons that visit the facilities throughout the year and oversight of a wide range of aquatics programs including swim lessons, swim team, aqua fitness and more!

Superintendent of Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services Dr. Joshua Mederios stated, “Back in 2011, when I was serving as Aquatics Director I brought Raelynne on as a young Lifeguard. It’s been such a pleasure to see her grow over the years, develop her skills and obtain high level certifications through the American Red Cross. Raelynne is a tremendous example of someone that has been able to move up the ladder and grow personally and professionally through our department. I’m confident she is going to do an outstanding job in her new role.”

Aquatics Supervisor Jaimie Clout is excited to work with the new coordinator, “Raelynne has been a fixture at the Dennis Malone Aquatics Center and our outdoor pools for nearly a decade. I look forward to working closely with her to expand our programming, enhance our marketing, and strengthen our organization as a whole through the skills, experience and ideas she brings to the table”.

In anticipation of her new role, Raelynne said, “I’ve enjoyed working with the department and I am so excited to further my time in this new position. I look forward to working alongside the Aquatics Supervisor to continue developing and growing the aquatics program for the City of Bristol.”

Raelynne Andrews officially assumed the role of Aquatics Coordinator on Monday November 25, 2019 with an annual starting salary of $56,785.
