A new business in Bristol is a one stop shop for cannabidiol (CBD), an herbal health supplement.
Your CBD Store offers a variety of forms of CBD including oil tinctures that can be dropped under the tongue, water soluble oil that can be mixed in drinks, gummies, soft gel caps, topical creams, e-liquids for vaping and even oil for pets.
A ribbon-cutting, in conjunction with the Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce was held last week.
The store will sell SunMed products such as cannabidiol (CBD) oils, creams, edibles, capsules and skin care, and will offer products for pets as well as people. Proponents say the compound, found in the cannabis plant, has many medical benefits, although the substance has not been approved by the FDA to treat medical ailments.
Hemp plants from which CBD oil is derived do not contain significant quantities of THC, the psychoactive, “high”-producing compound that marijuana plants contain in impactful amounts.
SunMed’s web site does, however, include the disclaimer that, “At no point can we guarantee that a false positive on a drug test will not occur,” because the difference between CBD oil and THC are difficult to distinguish in drug tests. “We do not recommend you take the product if this is a sensitive issue at your workplace,” the web site says.
The web site also says its products “are not intended for the cure, diagnosis, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease in man or animal.”
The Your CBD Store chain has grown rapidly. It opened more than 300 stores in its first 12 months, and has attracted franchisees who run nearly 400 additional retail outlets. By 2020, company officials say they expect to have more than 1,000 Your CBD Stores across the country.
Your CBD Store Bristol is located at 900 Farmington Ave. Rt 6 next to Dee’s Laundry in the former Insane Irvings building.
