Barnes Group Inc. headquartered in downtown Bristol, announced the appointment of Patrick Hurley to the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, effective immediately.

Before joining Barnes Group, Dr. Hurley was General Manager, Asia Pacific & Chief Technology Officer with A123 Systems, LLC. In this position, he was responsible for developing and executing the R&D Engineering and Technology strategy for new product development for the company’s global products portfolio.
From 2011 to 2014, Dr. Hurley was with Johnson Controls, where he held positions of increasing responsibility, including Director, Global Core Components; Director, R&D and Sr. Manager, Strategic Technology Planning. From 2006 to 2011, he was with Air Products, where he held the positions of Senior Principal Research Scientist / Technology Lead, Principal Research Scientist / Technology Lead, and Senior Research Scientist.
Following the completion of his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry at Purdue University, Dr. Hurley continued his studies in Solid state Physics at Kavli Postdoctoral Scholar at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).
