November 1: Afternoon Movie: Churchill  1:00 PM

Tensions mount for the beleaguered British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in the days leading up to Allied D-Day landings in Normandy. Fearful of repeating his deadly mistakes from World War I in the Battle of Gallipoli, exhausted by years of war, plagued by depression and obsessed with his historical destiny, Churchill is reluctant to embark on the large-scale campaign, one upon which the entire war effort hinges. Brian Cox, John Slattery, Miranda Richardson (2017) PG-13.
November 3:  This Business of Fighting: Putting a Human Face on WW II  1:00 PM.
“This Business of Fighting,” is a live performance story, based on Tony Pritchard’s letters to his parents in Rhode Island between his sailing for Europe in February 1944 and Germany’s surrender about fifteen months later. You will hear a young man wonder how he will respond to his first combat, describe crawling through the freezing, snow-covered woods of the Ardennes during the Battle of the Bulge, crowds of released forced laborers wandering the roads of Germany as the Nazi regime was collapsing, and women desperately trying to preserve their burning homes as the tide of battle washes over them. The material for this performance was recovered from Tony’s footlocker after his death by his son Arnie Pritchard. Arnie now presents the incredible content of these letter and documents to us.
November 7:  Library Coffee House: Belle of the Fall Plays Simon and Garfunkel  1:00 PM
Belle of the Fall, Tracy Walton and Julia Autumn Ford, play the music of Simon & Garfunkel w/ a few of their own songs mixed in for good measure, at the Library Coffee House, November 7 @ 1:00 PM! Belle of the Fall was Critic’s Choice Winner at the Richmond International Film and Music Festival in 2017. Their second album, Rise Up! was released in April. more on Belle of the Fall: Come listen to your Simon & Garfunkel favorites!

November 10: Coloring Club for Adults 1:00 PM–3:00PM.

The Coloring Club is a coloring group for adults, featuring treats to eat, peaceful music, fellowship, and an adventure in coloring. All coloring materials provided or feel free to bring your own!

November 21: Book Bites Book Group 1:00 PM.

The discussion book for November is: The Velveteen Daughter by Laurel Davis Hubert. The book for December is: Mr. Dickens and His Carol by Samantha Silva. Copies of Book bites discussion books are available at the library. All are welcome.

November 30: Holiday Movie: The Man Who Invented Christmas 1:00 PM

In 1843, the celebrated British novelist, Charles Dickens, is at a low point in his career. Determined to recover, Dickens decides to write a Christmas story and self-publish it in less than two months. Dickens struggles for inspiration against his frustrations in a literary challenge to create the classic tale that would define the essential soul of modern Christmas. 2018 Saturn Awards Nominee.
