The Bristol Development Authority post on social media that a new era of downtown Bristol began today as Bristol Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu addressed more than 80 state, regional, and city leaders as Bristol Hospital held a “beam signing” of one of the final top floor beams in construction of a dynamic ambulatory care center that will employ hundreds of medical professionals while drawing scores of patients to downtown Bristol.

Bristol Hospital CEO Kurt Barwis and officials from the developer, Rendina Health Real Estate, commented on the major impact the new center will have on patient care and activity downtown.

The new 60,000 square foot two-story building will house a state-of-the-art Ambulatory Care Center.

The building is expected to employ dozens of medical professionals while servicing thousands of patients downtown.

According to Rendina, they have developed more than 7.25 million square feet of healthcare facilities, working with hospitals and developing projects for healthcare systems throughout the United States.

The city is also dividing the remaining parcel into smaller lots with the construction of a new road.

Nearing completion, the new road will be about 1,000 feet long and contain many streetscape components including trees, brick pavers, a center median made of “stamped asphalt,” decorative lights, landscaping, granite curbing, and a new bus stop location already in place.

The completion date for the Ambulatory Care Center is planned for late 2019 or Spring of 2020.
