The Bristol Parks & Recreation Department along with Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu announced the first annual Mayor’s Back to School Pencil Hunt.

The event, scheduled for Tuesday, August 21, at Muzzy Field from 4:00 to 6:00pm, is sponsored in part by First Bristol Federal Credit Union and supported by additional community vendors including The Bristol Police Department, the Bristol Blues, the Bristol Board of Education, Family Resource Centers, Therapy Dogs, the Bristol Public Library and many more.

“We are looking forward to hosting a new event to get families and kids excited about the first day of school, as well as providing an opportunity to connect with other services,” said Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu.

Bristol families with children grades K-8th are encouraged to join in the festivities as students hunt for pencils to win prizes which include Leapfrog Academy, Amazon Fire, Kindle, Chromebook, TI83 Calculator, binders, notebooks, pens and more.

The event is free but requires pre-registration through the Bristol Parks and Recreation Programs website.

In the event of inclement weather, the pencil hunt will held Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00pm.
