Busted: Killer From Puerto Rico Caught in Bristol

John Carlos Crespo-Lopez of 57 Union Street, Bristol, CT.

Bristol Police said on Friday, June 29 officers along with United States Marshals from the Fugitive Task Force, arrested John Carlos Crespo-Lopez of 57 Union Street, Bristol, CT.

Crespo- Lopez had an arrest warrant out of Puerto Rico for two counts of murder and one count of kidnapping.

Puerto Rico Police said Crespo – López kidnapped and killed two individuals in separate incidents.

On February 1, 2014, Juan E. Otero Calderón, 26, was murdered. Days later, on February 3, 19-year-old Miguel A. Díaz Torres was killed in the same town.

In both cases, the victims were kidnapped, shot to death and left in vacant lots.

Crespo – López was charged with First Degree Murder, Violation of the Weapons Law, Conspiracy, and Kidnapping.

Police said, “It is clear from the investigation that the fugitive committed the crimes together with five other individuals who were subsequently arrested.”

The deaths are believed to be part of a drug war with criminal organizations that operate in Puerto Rico.

Crespo- Lopez was charged by Bristol police as a fugitive from justice and is being held on a $3,000.000.00 bond.
