Bristol man charged with disposing of infant’s body in reservoir

Benjamin Edgerly, 21 of Bristol

State police have now arrested a Bristol man in connection with the discovery of the body of an infant boy in a bag in a reservoir in Harwinton back in March.

The body was found in Bristol Reservoir #4. The City of Bristol Water Department maintains the reservoir, state police said.

Benjamin Edgerly, 21, is charged with illegal disposal of a dead body and conspiracy to conceal the delivery of a child.

He was arrested Friday and held on $100,000 bond pending arraignment in Bantam Superior Court.

Detectives were informed that the mother may be in need of immediate medical attention and was asked to seek out medical assistance.

Police said the woman, a Connecticut resident, finally came forward and spoke with detectives and was given medical care.

The infant is believed to have been born at full term within the last several days.
