After almost a decade of waiting for the City to develop the former mall site, Bristol Hospital has stepped in and purchased a large portion of the now called Centre Square for development.

The hospital plans to construct a 60,000 square foot two-story building that will house an Ambulatory Care Center.

The building is expected to employ dozens of medical professionals while servicing thousands of patients downtown.

Last month Bristol Hospital sealed the deal by officially signing the purchase agreement with the City.

Developer Rendina Healthcare Real Estate plans to develop a high-quality project transforming downtown Bristol and the former mall site. To view the plan click here.

According to Rendina, they have developed more than 7.25 million square feet of healthcare facilities, working with hospitals and developing projects for healthcare systems throughout the United States.

The Bristol Economic Development Authority posted on Facebook stated in part: “First sign of progress downtown [is] the sign of impending construction by Bristol Hospital.”

The City plans to divide the remaining parcel into smaller lots and install one new road and infrastructure this fall.

The completion date for the Ambulatory Care Center is planned for late 2019 or Spring of 2020.
