BRISTOL, Conn. (WTNH) — A shooting outside a Bristol bar sent one man to the hospital and woke up neighbors. The bar is called “West End Cafe” and it is right at the corner of routes 72 and 69. Police say the shooting happened just as the bar was closing, a little before 1 a.m.

People associated with the bar stress that the shooting happened outside on the sidewalk in front of the West End Cafe. The victim then came into the bar looking for help. There is a lot of blood still on the floor of the bar. Firefighters were brought in to clean up the blood left on the sidewalk.

A woman who lives upstairs from the bar says she heard at least four, maybe five gunshots, then heard all the sirens as police cars and ambulances arrived. Police say the victim was taken to St. Francis hospital in critical condition, but is expected to survive.
