Neighbors said Mastroianni was terminally ill with cancer. Despite the best efforts by firefighters, neighbors believe the flames were too intense to make an entry into the building to rescue Mastroianni.

The State fire marshal’s office is still investigating to determine the cause of the fire that began on the first floor of the condominium complex.

    1. The fire did not break out on Sunday, it was Monday 1/12.
    2. The name of the apartment complex is not “Lakewood Apartments”, it’s “Redstone Commons”.
