Bristol councilor creates meeting to fix feral cat issue

Bristol City Councilor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu has scheduled a meeting on Thursday, January 22, 7:00pm at City Hall to address the ongoing feral cat issue.

Zoppo-Sassu said “When 100 people show up at a City Council meeting concerned about a community issue, I think it is our duty to find solutions and organize a response. I don’t think this is going to be hard – last night we heard a half-dozen suggestions that I think will be easy to mobilize including promoting a neuter ordinance, creating lists and strategies and putting people willing to volunteer in touch with each other to maximize resources.

There are grants available, there are reduced fees for spaying and neutering offered at various agencies, and best practices successfully implemented elsewhere.”

The public meeting intends to find solutions and create a strategy and resources list for use by agencies, government and neighborhoods to humanely reduce and control the feral cat population per Humane Society guidelines.
