Hospital welcomes first baby of 2015

hocc2015Ana Morena says her newborn daughter Natalya Morena is the “perfect gift.” Natalya was born at 3:35 a.m. on New Year’s Day, making her the first baby born at The Hospital of Central Connecticut in 2015.

The infant is the third child for Ana and Rodolfo Morena of New Britain. Their other children are son Rodolfo Jr., age 7, and daughter Leyla, 18-months-old. At birth Natalya weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces; she is 17.5 inches long.

With Ana’s due date Jan. 10, the family had plans to spend New Year’s Eve with a relative. But Ana started having contractions early on Dec. 31 and notified her doctor that afternoon. She says they decided to stay home and watch the Ball Drop on TV instead. “All the plans changed,” she says.

At about 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, Ana arrived at HOCC’s Family BirthPlace and delivered Natalya about an hour later. “She’s doing great. She’s a good baby,” says Ana, who says she is happy and excited.

Of his third child’s birth, Rodolfo says, “I feel good. I’m happy.”

To celebrate the birth of the first baby born at HOCC in 2015, The Family BirthPlace presented the Morena family with a basket full of gifts, including a teddy bear, onesies, diapers and baby shampoo.
