Arrest Made in Connection with Bristol House Party Murder

100_0605BRISTOL – An assault suspect present at a house party the night of a murder was arrested by Bristol Police on Friday. Anthony Johnese, 23, of 17 Brookside Blvd. in West Hartford, CT. was charged with Assault Second Degree, Hindering Prosecution in the First Degree and Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree.

Johnese is accused of striking a male in the head with a liquor bottle while the two were at this party on the evening of 01-24-14.

During this party that took place at 27 Irving Street Joseph Klett, 19, of 18 Kelley Street in Bristol was fatally stabbed. Joshua Daniels was later charged by Bristol Police with murder in the death of Kleet.

The male that was struck with the bottle was trying to come to the aid of Kleet. In an effort to avoid prosecution, Johnese drove Daniels south in his car but he and Daniels were apprehended after a vehicle pursuit by officers from the High Point North Carolina Police Department on 01-26-14.

Detective Peter Dauphinais of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Bristol Police Department applied for an arrest warrant for Johnese and the warrant was approved on 08-08-14.

Johnese was first stopped by the Hartford Police for a traffic violation. Hartford officers ran a check on Johnese and discovered both New Britain P.D. and Bristol held arrest warrants for Johnese. Johnese was first turned over to New Britain whereupon he made bond and then to the Bristol police.

Johnese posted a $50,000 bond and was released pending an 08-25-14 court date at the Superior Court in Bristol.
