BRISTOL – To assist Bristol residents who need to interact with Social Security, The City of Bristol Senior Center is now offering a Video Service for interacting with Social Security Administration. This service is being made available as a result of the closing of the Social Security office in Bristol in January 2014. The city has scrambles to find a solution to the offices closure. It seems a digital band-aid is being offered.
The new office will be available to Bristol residents aged 55 and over every Wednesday between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. People needing to speak with a Social Security employee will be able to do so. Video conferencing equipment has been set up at the Senior Center for residents aged 55 and older so they can speak face to face with the Social Security employee. Appointments will be taken on a first come, first serve basis.
It is unclear if older residents will use the service. Most would rather handle personal and confidential issues face to face.
The Bristol Senior Center is located at 240 Stafford Avenue, Bristol, CT 06010. For further information please call the Senior Center at (860)584-7895 weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
