Cockayne & Larson Discuss Bristol’s Social Security Office

1424383_593163267415359_1613357715_nMayor Ken Cockayne invited Congressman Larson to his office to discuss keeping the Bristol Social Security Office open in Bristol.

The Social Security Administration office located at 225 North Main Street, Bristol, will close effective January 29, 2014.

Because this is a federal decision, the ability to reverse this closure and keep the Bristol Social Security Administration Office open lies with Congress and not with state officials.

State Senator Jason Welch (R-Bristol) has filed a Freedom of Information request with the Principal Public FOIA Liaison to find out why the Bristol Social Security Administration Office (SSA) on Main Street was put on a closure list.

In 2011, the Bristol SSA office pared back its hours of operation from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Wednesday.
